Hilden Style Awards 2016 Winners

The Hilden Style Awards came back with a bang earlier this year after undergoing a huge makeover; with brand new judges, brand new prizes and brand new categories.

Aiming to find the unsung heroes in independent hospitality design, healthcare design and restaurant design, the Style Awards welcomed entries from independent establishments up and down the country in a bid to win the much coveted title.

With an array of impressive prizes including a double-page spread in the Hilden Style Guide; the ultimate guide to hospitality interiors and trends, the Awards also had a whole host of esteemed judges heading up the decision making.

Lee Birchall, architect and Managing Director of DV8 Designs, Lucy Forsyth, Vision’s very own healthcare interior design specialist, Gemma Ralph, Deputy Editor of Hospitality Interiors, Jeremy Tring, Editor of Eat Drink Sleep Magazine, Ellie Tennant, Interior Design Author and Journalist and Vision’s Hospitality Sales Manager, Victoria Hargreaves made up the judging panel for this year’s Awards which took place over the course of a judges lunch at last year’s winning restaurant, The Church Inn in Mobberley.

Powered by Vision, the Hilden Style Awards, were the most successful yet with an unprecedented amount of entries whilst the judges noted the calibre of entries made it immensely difficult to whittle the finalists down to just three in each category.

After an intensive deliberation session between the judges, the votes were cast and the result was confirmed. Here are the Hilden Style Awards 2016 winners.

The Winners

Most Stylish Independent Hotel or B&B – Hotel Gotham

Hotel Gotham Hilden Style Awards 2016 Winner

An upscale, art-deco themed hotel in the heart of Manchester city centre, Hotel Gotham opened in 2015 to critical acclaim for its references to the American banking district and the roaring twenties.

The judges said: “Decadent and unique, the finishing touches to the property enhance the appeal of this property even more. Effortlessly cool, the superbly stylish interior is matched only by the recurring nods to money with cleverly thought-out details from the briefcase light fittings to the newspaper signposting.”

Most Stylish Independent Restaurant – sketch

An unforgettable sensory experience based in London’s upmarket Mayfair, sketch combines design with delicacies and is regularly featured in the press for its unique and quirky décor.

The judges said: “Everything about this has the wow-factor. There aren’t many places that put so much effort into the styling of their toilet facilities! They’ve taken an empty shell and transformed it into something that people will want to come back to again and again, combining emotion and awe with dining.”

Most Stylish Care Home – Bentley House

Bentley House is a state-of-the-art care facility in Hertford featuring 67 rooms and apartments set over five floors. With a dedicated dementia suite and multiple facilities for residents, the establishment worked in conjunction with research from Stirling University to provide a space suitable for those with dementia or visual impairments.

The judges said: “To see the amount of facilities on offer is outstanding. And not only that, but each and every nook and cranny has been utilised most effectively. There’s no dead space and everything from the colours to the textures to the extra offerings prove the establishment has really gone the extra mile in creating a comfortable environment for those who live there.”

A huge congratulations to all the winners and entrants in this year’s Style Awards. Everyone at Vision was humbled and grateful to see how many venues took time to enter their own beautiful interiors.

Vision now plan to release their upcoming Hilden Style Guide 2017 in the upcoming months with the Style Awards returning in May 2017.

But this time, things are really set to change!
