Julie Cawood and her husband holding a check for charity

Following on from Vision’s recent  Dragon’s Den style charity eventJulie Cawood has presented the winning charity with a cheque for £1000. Julie awarded Arthur Benbow, founder of Kids at School in Nepal, with Vision’s donation at a fundraising event.

Julie recently retired from Vision Support Services and has now been made a Trustee of the Charity. She plans to raise their profile and ultimately increase fundraising for this small charity. The Children of Nepal Charity builds classrooms, provides clean water facilities and installs sanitation at government schools, to extend and improve educational opportunities for children in rural central Nepal.

After being awarded the money for the charity Julie said: “The Vision’s Dragons’ Den is a fabulous way to raise funds for your chosen charity. As you can imagine, the Kids At School In Nepal Committee are absolutely over the moon and we can now start making plans for the flooring, plastering, light well, desks and chairs at the school I will be involved in. Thank you to those who voted and thank you to the Vision Board for the amazing opportunity and for their generosity!”

Update: We’re sad to report the recent earthquake in Nepal has affected The Children of Nepal charity. A worker of the charity has managed to reach the village of Pulkharka, where the school is based and their are currently reports of 15 deaths within the village. As much funds as possible are being sent, including the Dragon’s Den £1000. This money will be spent to help with clean water supply and shelter which is a much more important factor at this stage.
