Textile company, Vision Support Services, and its neighbour, Napthens Solicitors, took part in a week-long charity fundraising initiative aimed at raising money for Blackburn Youth Zone.

The Paint the Town Orange week, which took place between 4th and 8th November, saw both companies take part in a number of activities throughout the week aimed at supporting the youth hub, which is based in the heart of Blackburn Town Centre.

Tuesday 5th November saw Vision hold a raffle to win a day of annual leave which saw unprecedented entries. The lucky winner was announced at the end of the day and it went to Steven Henderson from Vision’s warehouse team.

Wednesday 6th November saw the two companies, both based at Darwen House in Blackburn, take part in a quiz; even having an ‘orange’ themed round and the winners of this were Lily and Tracey from Napthens with Vision’s Michelle Ainsworth and Angela McGlinn coming in a close second.

Next up was a bake sale for both companies on Thursday 7th November. A whole host of tasty treats and cakes were baked by staff from Napthens and Vision and slices were offered at £1 a slice to anyone wanting to sample some of the marvellous creations. Extra points went to those who baked something orange!

Finally, on Friday 8th November, a dress down day was held in which staff from both offices could pay £1 to wear their own clothes, and again, extra brownie points went to those who managed to wear something orange in aid of the very colourful week.

Napthens, who are a Silver Patron to Blackburn Youth Zone, raised £130 for their activities throughout the week and Vision raised £330 which was then agreed to be matched by Vision’s Managing Director, Laurie Thomas, bringing the grand total for the week to a whopping £790.

The week was well received by everyone in and around the offices and goes a little way to ensuring the future of Blackburn Youth Zone, of which Vision is a Gold Patron. The youth hub is a vital part of the borough, bringing together young people aged between 5 and 25 and exists to change the prospects of people in the area, which according to new statistics lists Blackburn with Darwen as the 9th most deprived area in the UK.
