Vision at Run in the Dark Manchester

A team of amateur runners from Vision donned their best sports attire to take part in ‘Run in the Dark’ in a bid to raise money for charity.

Taking place in Manchester on 16th November, Run in the Dark was created in association with The Mark Pollock Trust to support their ongoing research in finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Starting at 8pm, the team from Vision received Vision-branded shirts and participated in either the 5k or 10k races, many of whom had never taken part in runs of this length before.

Run in the Dark takes place in six official locations all over the world; Cork, Belfast, Manchester, Dublin, London and Taipei with over fifty cities worldwide organising their own, pop-up events.

Runners were given red flashing armbands and took to the streets of Salford in order to complete the run and all entry fees were donated directly to The Mark Pollock Trust.

Mark Pollock, who the charity is named after, suffered life-changing injuries in 2010 after he was left paralysed after a spinal cord injury. Shortly after, his friends created The Mark Pollock Trust to help fund vital research into spinal cord injuries and all monies raised go directly towards fuelling this ambition.

Vision’s Head of Marketing, Alison Burns, said: “Speaking on behalf of Vision; we were proud to have been able to support The Mark Pollock Trust by participating in this charity run. Spinal cord injuries can have a devastating impact on those that suffer them as well as the friends and family members too.

We hope, by taking part in Run in the Dark, our contribution goes some way to finding a cure for this preventable affliction.”
