UK Housekeepers Association Annual Summer Ball

Staff from Vision donned their best flapper dresses for an evening at the UK Housekeepers Association Summer Ball, taking place at the Marriott, Leeds on July 22nd.

The annual ball, set to the theme of the roaring twenties, was attended by over 200 people from across the hospitality industry and included music, dancing and entertainment as well as food and drink throughout the evening.

Our very own Victoria Hargeaves and Michelle Ainsworth went along and mingled alongside gangsters, molls, burlesque and Charleston dancers at the ball which takes place in each of the regions outside London on an annual basis.

The UKHA is the largest housekeepers association in Europe made up of housekeepers and hoteliers who come together to provide information, training and share ideas whilst promoting housekeeping as a career.

As well as being the photo sponsors for the night, Vision also gifted goody bags to all the guests which included some items from their luxury product brand, Liddell.

Victoria said: “The evening went really well and it was a great opportunity for networking, it was great to see how popular our Liddell goody bags were. Many of the housekeepers who attended use our product everyday so it was great to give them a piece to take home.”

The summer ball, held in the Yorkshire and North East region, is vital for the UK Housekeepers Association as it aims to raise much needed funds for the region in order to support their scholarship programs which include: memberships to the UKHA, memberships to the Institute of Hospitality where members can study courses and further their knowledge within the industry. The funds mean the association can then mentor and develop young housekeepers in advancing further up the career ladder with the goal of reaching executive housekeeping positions. The ball also raises money to fund trips to national events such as Shared Knowledge Day and the UKHA Business Lunch.

Kerry Adams, Yorkshire Chair of the UKHA said: “Sponsorship and support for this event was amazing due to the associate members and general manager through Yorkshire and the UK. We had that many raffle prizes that, for the first time, we had to break the raffle into two!”
